In this episode, I had the honor of being joined by Danny Vega and Brian Williamson of The Ketogenic Athlete Podcast. The three of us spent this past week at my family farm down in south Arkansas. We figured we'd record a podcast in the middle of all the festivities. We talked about the importance of disconnecting from our day-to-day hustle. We discussed silence and solitude. We exposed our insecurities so that we could develop new skills. We all harvested animals while we were there so we talked about that experience and the importance of respecting where your food comes from. In this episode, I speak with one of my clients, Robert Hogge. Robert was in a severe car accident which caused significant nerve tissue damage. This injury left him nearly immobile and stuck in a life of severe pain. He became medically addicted to pain medication and realized he had to turn his life around. He got off the meds and turned towards nutrition to improve his health and well being. He experienced such a shift in his well being after following the keto diet that he decided to pursue one of his life's dreams of stepping on stage as a competitor. He worked with me and we got him absolutely shredded at 49 years old and made this dream a reality. In this episode, I speak with Adam Clark on his and his family's health transformation. Adam is one of 7 brothers, five of which are keto. He was introduced to keto by his father and his older brother and has since made it his lifestyle. We go over some of the mistakes he's made with the diet and many of the lessons learned. She had two kids, a broken leg, had just relocated, and was totally frustrated with her situation. She decided to start the keto diet and improve her health. In this episode, I speak with Meg and her journey of losing over 200 lbs and overcoming eating disorders. Meg grew up as the "big kid" at school and developed eating disorders at an early age. This impacted her very negatively and she was constantly avoiding interaction with others. She gained the confidence to pursue a healthier lifestyle after seeing others with a similar background turn their life around. We dive into binging, purging, and the downside of fasting. We also discuss the psychological aspect of reaching your goals and the importance of consistency, discipline, forming habits, and a healthy balance. In this episode, I learn all about how to be a Vegan Keto-adapted athlete with Tay Sweat. Tay is the vegan trainer but he didn't start out like that. He was overweight and diagnosed with type two diabetes when he was only 15 years old. He decided to swap out the fast food for veggies and hasn't looked back since. We dove into the macro ratios he follows and what a typical day of eating looks like for Tay. We went down the rabbit hole of eating for ethics vs eating for performance. We discuss nutrition based off of ancestral history. We compare vegan and carnivore and we stress the point of doing what is right for you as an individual. In this episode, I speak with the founder of Catalina Crunch, Krishna Kaliannan! Krishna was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and epilepsy and looked to the ketogenic diet to help with seizures.
